Dr. Wampler earned his Eagle in 1947, his God and Country in 1948 and also a Bronze, Gold and Silver Palm.

In 1970, a committee of 6 from Higgins United Methodist Church got together to form a Boy Scout Troop.  Troop 502 has been active on and off since that time and Dr. Wampler has been active with the Scouts in several roles, Committee Chair, Charter Organization Representative and even spent one year as Scoutmaster.  In 1981, Dr. Wampler was awarded the high honor presented by a Council, the Silver Beaver.

To honor Doctor Wampler and his dedication and passion for Scouting, a fundraising dinner will be held on May 20th at Higgins United Methodist Church.  Doors open at 6:00pm and dinner served at 6:30pm.  RSVP is required to attend by call Alice Courtland, District Executive at 828.301.7139 or emailing her at alice.courtland@scouting.org.

It costs $140 per year to get one youth Scout through Scouting.  You may honor Dr. Wampler even if you are not able to attend by helping support at least one scout through a scouting year.  You may honor Dr. Wampler by also contacting Alice Courtland or by sending a check to Daniel Boone Council, 333.
